Privacy at a glance

Offline-first

Core learning, speech recognition and Talk with Milo run on the device.

No accounts

Children are not asked to create an account or provide a name or email address.

No advertising

The app contains no ads, behavioral advertising or advertising-identifier tracking.

No sale or sharing

The publisher does not sell, rent or share children’s personal information.

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the Android application Milo Learning Buddy (the “App”), published by K A Islam (the “Publisher,” “we,” “us” or “our”). Milo is an offline-first educational app designed for children ages 5 to 10 and their parents or guardians.

This policy explains how the App accesses and processes information. It does not describe unrelated services offered elsewhere on whynotcheaper.com.

2. Information the App does not collect

The current version of Milo does not transmit personal information to the Publisher. In particular, it does not collect or transmit:

The App has no user accounts, social network, public profiles, cloud database or user-to-user messaging.

3. Microphone use and local speech processing

The microphone is optional. Milo requests Android microphone permission only when a user chooses a voice-answer or voice-conversation feature.

If microphone permission is denied, the App remains usable through tap-based answers and typed input.

4. Talk with Milo

Talk with Milo is a reviewed, local rule-based activity. It is not an open internet chat, a connection to another person or a cloud generative-AI service. Typed or locally transcribed questions are processed on the device. The App keeps a short conversation only in active memory while the screen is open and does not save it as conversation history.

5. Information stored locally on the device

To make the App useful between sessions, Milo stores limited information locally:

This information is not sent to the Publisher. Parent-PIN material is stored using Android-provided secure storage. The Publisher cannot retrieve or reset the PIN remotely.

6. Parent controls

The Parent Area is protected by a four-digit PIN created on the device. Parents or guardians can view learning progress, choose age and language settings, enable daily limits and break reminders, reset the daily timer, change the PIN and erase local learning progress. The PIN is not an online account password.

7. Advertising, analytics, tracking and third parties

Milo contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, social-media plug-in or behavioral tracking technology. The App does not use the Google Advertising ID. We do not sell, rent, disclose or share information from the App with advertisers, data brokers or other third parties.

The App uses software components for local functions such as speech recognition, device text-to-speech, secure storage, microphone recording and local preferences. In the current release, these functions are configured for on-device operation rather than sending a child’s content to the Publisher.

8. Data retention and deletion

Because the Publisher does not receive App data, we do not maintain a server-side child profile or account to review or delete.

A parent may contact us with a privacy question. If no information has been collected by the Publisher, we will explain that we have no server-held child information to provide or delete.

9. Children’s privacy

Milo is designed to minimize information use. It does not require a child to submit personal information to participate. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children through the App. If a future version introduces online collection, accounts, advertising, analytics or cloud processing, we will assess applicable parental-notice and consent requirements before enabling that functionality and will update this policy and the relevant app-store declarations.

10. Security

Keeping processing on the device reduces exposure to network interception and remote databases. We use platform secure storage for parent-PIN material and limit App permissions to features the user chooses to use. No technology can guarantee absolute security, and device security also depends on the operating system, device settings and physical security of the device.

11. International transfers

The current App does not transfer App content or personal information to the Publisher or a cloud service. Therefore, the Publisher does not conduct international transfers of children’s App data in the current release.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if Milo’s features or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy at this URL and change the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects children’s privacy, we will provide any additional notice or consent required by applicable law before the changed processing begins.

13. Contact the Publisher

Parents, guardians and other users may send questions or requests concerning Milo’s privacy practices to:
